Who We Are
Nepal Himalayan Journeys was founded in 2009 by Karma Sherpa and Deepak Gurung — two mountain guides who grew up in the shadows of Everest and Annapurna. Their simple belief: the best guide is someone who has lived the mountain their whole life.
Today, our team of 35 certified guides, naturalists, and cultural experts operate across every trekking region of Nepal. We are licensed by the Nepal Tourism Board, members of TAAN (Trekking Agencies' Association of Nepal), and proud recipients of the National Responsible Tourism Award 2023.
Our Mission
We operate strict Leave No Trace policies on all treks, have planted over 12,000 native trees in the Khumbu region, and use only biodegradable products on trail.
100% of our staff are local Nepali. We source food from local farmers, stay in family-run teahouses, and direct 5% of annual profits to the Himalayan School Fund.
All guides receive annual wilderness first aid, high-altitude medicine, and English training. We provide fair wages, health insurance, and pension contributions.
Every booking includes a carbon contribution to our verified reforestation projects. We have achieved carbon-neutral certification for all operations since 2022.
